Aberfan & Merthyr Vale Youth and Community Project recently started a new heritage project called ‘The Pit’. We were commissioned to create a new and eye-catching brand identity that would fully depict the project.
The new identity should represent ideas of heritage, history, industry, community and mining/collieries as well as appealing to the younger generation who would be involved in the project.
From the outset we went about creating a range of solutions that would portray the project in the best way possible and generating ideas that would be easily identifiable for other members of the community.
Constant engagement with the team at ‘The Pit’ meant a broad understanding of the project was achieved. Working with the project closely allowed them to contribute their ideas and thoughts thoughout the development process.
Focusing on the theme of heritage and history, an identity was achieved that paid homage to the project. It would appeal to both the young and elder generation of the community as well as being a great metaphor for the project going forward.
